We have been in business for every major innovation in business technology since 1995.
Netscape and Internet Explorer became prominent at about the time Burton Computer Resources opened for business, offering an easy way for anyone to connect and find information online.
Microsoft’s integration of IE into all its desktops quickly made it a standard application in most offices. And made internet connection a requirement for doing business.
Enterprise Resource Planning systems matured from DOS command line style applications to fully featured customizable software that would make running a business more data driven and capturing that data much less of a headache.
QuickBooks became a popular choice for handling small business accounting.
Microsoft Office applications made it easier and easier to communicate and work with data.
The rise and advancement of desktop applications meant businesses needed hardware that would keep up.
While the internet, email and browsers were connecting businesses across the world, local area networks were connecting employees to centralized data and critical hardware.
By the late 90s Wi-Fi was making it easier to get access to business networks allowing employees to access their data and print wirelessly from anywhere in the office, but it was insecure and without a guiding hand small businesses were opening themselves up to hacking.
By the dawn of the new millennium email had almost completely replaced fax machines as the primary way in which businesses communicate with each other, their employees, and their customers.
Burton Computer Resources saw these needs and began providing small businesses in South Mississippi with technology and tools that would keep up with the increasing demands of technological innovation.
Now, business technology is crucially important to even the smallest business. Making sure every piece of technology is always able to connect to its data, communicate with the world, and do it all through a secure connection is of paramount importance.
For 30 years Burton Computer Resources’ mission has been to make it easier to do business. A lot has changed in 30 years but not our commitment to making sure businesses can operate without worrying about lost revenue from downtime, disaster and hacking due to bad technology implementation.
We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of South Mississippi’s business community. We look forward to the next thirty years and we look forward to providing South Mississippi’s businesses with the resources they need to serve their customers and their communities.
